Geoff McGrath
Managing Director, McLaren Applied Technologies

Twenty years experience in technological innovation from conceptual engineering design and development through to sales and business development for blue chip and start-up companies alike.  A mechanical engineer by training his career spanned most branches of engineering from mechanical, aeronautical, civil, chemical and petroleum engineering before changing focus to the telecoms, media and entertainment in the Internet boom and now back to Mclaren Applied Technologies as MD.  Current focus in on realizing breakthrough’s in performance in fields as diverse as sports, health and logistics through the application of McLaren Technology and design. McLaren will present the history of development of what is arguably the best simulator in the motor sports industry.  Insight will be shared as to how the simulator is used from driver training through to design and testing of components in a virtual environment to accelerate engineering development.  Finally examples of application of know how from racing to other fields outside of racing will be discussed.

Richard G. Brown, PHD
Head, Synthetic Environment Coordination Office (SECO)

The Dept. of National Defence (DND) and the Canadian Forces (CF) rely heavily on M&S technology in a number of areas such as training and R&D. Since the investment in M&S systems is so large and expanding so quickly, often in separate islands of activity, a strategic plan is required to optimize the return on investment and to maximize the collective capability of the DND/CF's current and future M&S resources. The DND/CF Synthetic Environment Coordination Office (SECO) is drafting the DND/CF M&S Strategic Plan for the Chief of Force Development. The background, vision and objectives of the draft plan will be presented.
